Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Head of Public Service Francis Muthaura have stepped aside from office.
This comes four days after the International Criminal Court (ICC) pre-trial Judges confirmed charges of crimes against humanity levelled against them at The Hague.
Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and immediate former Head of Public Service Francis Muthaura in a past function.
A press statement from the office of the President said President Mwai Kibaki had accepted the decision by Uhuru to step aside as the Minister for Finance.
However, Uhuru would retain the position of Deputy Prime Minister in accordance with the Constitution.
President Kibaki subsequently appointed Minister for Nairobi Metropolitan Development Robinson Githae, to be the Acting Minister for Finance.
Kibaki also accepted the decision by Muthaura, to step aside as Permanent Secretary, Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of the Public Service.
"In this regard, Mr. Francis T. Kimemia, CBS Permanent Secretary, Provincial Administration and Internal Security will be Acting Permanent Secretary, Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of Public Service," said the statement.
Mr. Mutea Iringo will be Acting Permanent Secretary for Provincial Administration and Internal Security.
